You and an opponent each secretly hide an English word. Take turns probing — the system gives two clues: a semantic score (how close in meaning) and letter marks (green/yellow/gray). Guess the exact word to win.
The game starts when everyone is ready. Your word stays secret.
You and an opponent each secretly hide an English word. Take turns probing — the first to guess the other's exact word (100% match) wins.
Each probe must be a word of the same length as the answer (you can see its length from the start).
① Semantic score (0-100%) — how close your word's meaning is to theirs.
How it works — every word is mapped to a point in a "meaning space" using the public GloVe word-vector dataset (Stanford, public domain). Your score is the cosine similarity between your word's point and your opponent's, rescaled to 0–100%: identical words = 100%, unrelated words ≈ 0%.
🔒 The same public dataset and formula apply to every player, in every match — fair and transparent.
② Letter marks — green = right letter, right spot (locked) · yellow = right letter, wrong spot · gray = not in the word.
At the start of each match you'll see your opponent's word category (one of 35, e.g. Animals, Health, Technology, Household) and its length, for free.
When you hide a word, you'll also see its difficulty stars (★) — more stars means the word is more "isolated" (harder for your opponent to find through semantic clues).
1v1 Duel — you vs one friend. Hide a word, take turns probing, first to guess wins. Voice chat is available. Turn on Timed mode for a 15-second clock each turn — win for a +3 bonus.
Solo vs AI — a 5-level challenge from easy to hard. Guess the AI's word to clear each level. After all 5 levels, keep playing to climb the rank titles and the leaderboard.
Tournament — 2+ players. Everyone hides a word, then players are paired up and play elimination rounds. Winners advance, losers are out — the last one standing wins. If there's an odd number, one player gets a bye (auto-advance) each round. Spectators can watch any match.
⚠️ Fair play — if you disconnect or leave mid-game, it counts as a surrender (your opponent wins).
Want to watch without playing? Join a room as a spectator. You'll see both players' names, their live scores, and every clue in real time — but their hidden words stay covered until you tap them.
🔒 Tap to reveal — to join in the fun, try to guess each word yourself, then tap the hidden-word panel to reveal the answer. Tap again to hide it back.
① Create — pick a mode, set an optional room password, then create. You'll get a 4-letter room code.
② Share — send the room code (and password, if you set one) to friends.
③ Join — friends enter the code (and password) to join. 1v1: 2 players max. Tournament: everyone joins the same room.
④ Ready up — each player hides a word and taps Ready. The game starts when everyone is ready.
⑤ Account — the first time you use a nickname, you'll set a 6-character password (letters or numbers). Use the same nickname + password on any device to keep your score and rank.

🎯 Challenge — tick "Challenge double reward" when hiding your word. You succeed (and earn +10) if your opponent needs more than 8 probes to guess your word — or never guesses it. Both the winner and the loser can earn this bonus.
⏱ Timed mode — 15 seconds per turn; if you time out, your turn is skipped. Winning a timed match earns a +3 bonus.
📅 Daily Challenge — win, fast-win, and challenge points are all doubled (win +20, fast +10, challenge +20). Streak and timed bonuses are not doubled.
🎮 Levels (Solo vs AI) — a 5-level challenge from easy to hard. Guess the AI's word to clear a level and advance; if you lose, retry the same level (no penalty):
| Level 1 | AI hides common words, probes weakly |
| Level 2 | AI hides harder words |
| Level 3 | AI hides harder words + smarter probing |
| Level 4 | AI hides expert-level words |
| Level 5 | AI hides rarest words, probes smartest |
👑 Rank titles — your total score unlocks rank titles: 🌱 Rookie (0) → 🔍 Explorer (100) → 🎓 Scholar (300) → 🏅 Master (600) → 👑 Legend (1000 pts). Shown next to your nickname and on the leaderboard.
🎉 Milestone bonuses — clear all 5 levels for a one-time +100 pts; reach Legend for a one-time +200 pts. After clearing all levels, keep playing to climb the leaderboard!
Higher score also unlocks extra letter reveals (score 200 → 2nd reveal, 500 → 3rd).
Each match you get 1 free letter reveal (fills in one correct letter of your opponent's word). For words of 6+ letters: reach a score of 200 to unlock a 2nd reveal, and 500 to unlock a 3rd.
Same word for everyone, one try per day. All points are doubled (2X) — win +20, fast win +10, challenge +20.
A new word drops at midnight (Singapore time). Each nickname gets exactly one try per day — win or lose, you can't retry until tomorrow.
Share without spoilers — after finishing, "Copy result" shares emoji squares showing how close each probe was (🟩 close, 🟨 mid, ⬛ far) — never the answer. Challenge your friends!
Length — words must be 4-7 letters. Shorter (3) or longer (8+) words can't be hidden.
Names, places, and team names aren't allowed (this game is for learning real English words). Function words like "the" or "well" are also not allowed.
✨ New words — if you hide a real English word that isn't in the dictionary yet, it's verified online and added to the dictionary, so it works for everyone from then on. Gibberish and names are still rejected.
SenseDuel is a word-guessing game that makes learning English fun. Hide a word, probe your opponent's, and use semantic + letter clues to win.
🎓 Educational — every game teaches you real English words with definitions, categories, and letter patterns. Names and places aren't allowed, so you always learn meaningful vocabulary.
